Dinner and Learning to Play the Bodhrán: Fascinating Facts
The Bodhrán, a frame drum, is an old Irish instrument which is tacked with a goatskin on one side. It's size can range from 10" to 26" in diameter. The other side of the drum is open, for one hand of the player to be placed in there.
The history of the Bodhrán in Ireland began in 1603 during the Irish rebellion, when it was used as a kind of battle drum. With the drums they generated a cadence to follow for pipers and warriors and they announced the appearance of the army.
