Giant Causeway Tour: Fascinating Facts
About 50-60 millions year ago there was high volcanic activity on this spot which resultated a lava reaction which after years of basalt, finally formed the Giant Causeway to what it is today. There are plenty of stories about how The Giant Causeway was formed to its sight today. One of the famous myths is the legend of the Irish Warrior Fionn Mac Cumhaill. It is told that she built the walk to Scotland to fight his scottisch counterpart Benandonner. The legend tells that Fionn fell asleep before he reached Scotland. Benandonner, who was a much bigger man than Fionn got suspicious and decided to find Fionn to battle against him. To protect Fionn, his wife had put a blanket over him. Benandonner thought it was an infant in a blanket and was startled about the size of the infant and took the conclusion that the father of this baby must be twice as big, and Benandonner fled back to Scotland before even facing Fionn. On his way back he ripped the Causeway and that is wjat is left today.
