Dublin Castle tour with early access to the Book of Kells

Described in the Annals of Ulster in 1007 as "the most precious object in the western world", the cultural and historical value of the Book of Kells has only increased in the millennium since. This exquisite work of art has been the greatest example of medieval illumination for 1,200 years. Your tour starts by delving into the rich ornamentation of this precious book and explores its dense symbolism, meaning and merit as an artistic masterpiece.

Your tour will continue to Dublin Castle, the heart of the historic city. Originally built in the 13th century on a site previously settled by the Vikings, it functioned as a military fortress, a prison, treasury, court of law and the seat of English Administration in Ireland for 700 years. Rebuilt in the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, Dublin Castle awaits to enthrall all who enter her gates. On this fully guided exterior tour, you'll visit the gardens, see the original Record and Octagonal Towers, the Upper and Lower State Yards and their architectural highlights. Other sights include the official Statue of Molly Molone, Georges Street Arcade and the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre.

Your tour will be led by an engaging guide who will unveil incredible secrets. With tales of intrigue and mystery, this tour is a must-do for anyone interested in the history of Ireland.

Day at the Races - €39 Gift Voucher Good evening out, however I was very cold as i didn't think to take a coat and didn't want to hide my nice dress I probably would have prefered to go in the day time, so be prepared for the cold! Also didn't win any money but the nice evening made up for it. Erin
