The experience
A visit to the museum will allow you to see the troopers tending to the horses in the working stables stalls, although it is a museum, their work continues today. You will be able to try on the offical uniforms of the Household Cavalry and the audio-visual and touch screen presentations will ensure that you have an interactive learning experience regarding all elements of working life for both troopers and horses

Historic setting
Dating back to 1750, the Household Cavalry Museum sits within Horse Guards in Whitehall, central London, one of the city's most historic buildings, just along from Number 10 Downing Street (home to the United Kingdom's Prime Minister). It is the headquarters of the Household Division, in which the Household Cavalry has performed the Queen's Life Guard in the daily ceremony that has been largely unchanged for over 350 years.

The Household Cavalry
Founded in 1661 under the direct order of King Charles II, the Household Cavalry consists of the two senior regiments of the British Army – The Life Guards and the Blues and Royals. There are two daily ceremonies; The Changing of the Queen's Life Guard takes place daily on Horse Guards Parade at 11am (10am on Sundays). Followed by the daily inspection, taking place at 4pm each day.

A visit to the Household Cavalry museum is a unqiue experience as its very different from the standard museum visit. The museum is small but everything is laid-out in a practical fashion with the high-levels that you would expect from the British army, thus allowing you to experince the lives of the Household Division as they happen.
