The Experience
Your experience starts when you arrive at the visitor centre where you will get ready to head beneath the surface.
You will begin the descent down 125 steps that will take you 70 feet down into the earth. There are handrails and flat landings every ten steps which means you can take your time and have a breather as you head down into the main chamber.
When you are inside the cave your guide will explain how the vast limestone space was formed. The main highlight is the massive central stalactite which grew over thousands of years from continuous drops of water. You will get plenty of time to take it in and appreciate the scale of the subterranean landscape while the guide shares the history of the site.
You will then head back up to the surface where you can take a walk along the 1 kilometre looped eco-trail. The trail winds through the local terrain giving you a chance to see native plants and the distinct limestone environment at your own pace. You will also get the chance to stop and look at the glacial clay pottery produced on site.

Food and Drinks should not be taken into the cave.
All visitors must wear a hard hat, which will be supplied to you.
Not suitable for pregnant women, anyone with back problems, heart problems or pre-existing medical conditions.
Not suitable for wheelchairs or prams/strollers.
Not suitable for children under 3 years old.

The Weather
Tours are rarely cancelled, however severe weather can occasionally force the visitor centre or cave to close for safety reasons.
Session Length
The duration of the Doolin Cave Tour for Two is approximately 50 minutes.
