The Experience
You will begin your day at The D-Day Story in Portsmouth by exploring the main exhibition, where interactive displays, original artefacts, and personal accounts bring the events of 6 June 1944 to life.
Next you will continue to the planning section, where you’ll learn how Allied leaders made key strategic decisions and used deception to protect the operation.
Next, head outside to board LCT 7074, the last surviving D-Day landing craft, and see the Sherman and Churchill tanks it once carried to Normandy.
Conclude your visit with the Overlord Embroidery, a series of 34 hand-stitched panels telling the story of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, accompanied by powerful video clips of veterans sharing their memories.
